PE
"A high-quality physical education curriculum inspires all pupils to succeed and excel in competitive sport and other physically-demanding activities. It should provide opportunities for pupils to become physically confident in a way which supports their health and fitness. Opportunities to compete in sport and other activities build character and help to embed values such as fairness and respect." (National Curriculum)
Physical Education
St Jude’s delivers Physical Education with the aim of developing healthy and well-educated children. Physical Education is a tool to not only improve the physical development of children, but also a tool through which the children can develop personal and character skills and traits of collaboration, leadership, respect and fair play. St Jude’s has a strong sporting tradition, taking part in a variety of sports through intra and inter-school-tournaments.
At St Jude’s we also believe that Physical Education provides a great opportunity to develop and encourage healthy lifestyles and habits.
We work in collaboration with staff from Superstar Sports, who deliver one lesson per week for each year group in both key stages. The class teacher delivers the second lesson of the week.
Swimming is taught at Fareham Leisure Centre for one year group each year for approx 10 weeks.
Active After-School clubs are offered by the staff of St Jude's and all pupils are encouraged to participate.
Superstar Sports staff also offer after-school clubs of football for children in key stage 2 and dance for both key stage 1 and key stage 2.

Hampshire School Games 2024
This team of Year 4 & Year 5 children represented St. Jude's exceptionally well at the Hampshire School Games Festival, on 20th June 2024 in Winchester. We tried all of the activities with gusto, encouragement from our team mates and our confidence grew throughout the day. Our favourite activity was trying out a range of bicycles, some of them adapted for people with physical disabilities, from Cycles4all. We shone at New -Age curling and Boccia, winning every game against other schools. Well done to the team for their positive attitude, determination, energy and team spirit.
Hampshire School Games Festival 2023
Words cannot express how proud we are of this team of pupils from St. Jude's. They represented our school and showed our values impeccably. They cheered each other on (as well as cheering for new friends we made from other schools), they persevered, showed good sportsmanship and they gave everything maximum effort, even when they were hot or tired. From karate moves to boxing training, and basketball to tennis, these children focused and worked hard, showing progress with their PE skills on every single sport. They were quick, agile, accurate and eager to learn. Several of the sports coaches praised our pupils for their good listening, and expertise in many of the sports we tried.
Well done Team! You are great ambassadors for our school.
Inter School Festivals and Tournaments
Well done to the Year 5 & Year 6 pupils who attend Henry Cort in February to participate in the hockey tournament with 5 local schools. It is great to be back out competing against other teams and celebrating sport! Thank you to Mr. Norton for his endless encouragement, support, belief and motivation.

Sports Day 2023
On a glorious day in June 2023, pupils of St. Jude's enjoyed a day of showing off their sports skills: aiming, jumping, running, sprinting, skipping, kicking, striking and rolling - well as dressing up at speed!
Even more impressive was the children's perseverance, team spirit, compassion and sportsmanship.
Well done everyone for giving every sports activity their best efforts, for cheering on their team and classmates in the opposing team. Well done Ghandi House for winning the Sports Day cup this year!
