The children have developed their problem-solving skills this term. They took part in interactive games on the board, found the odd one out during phonics when thinking about the initial sounds in words, explored rhyming words, completed puzzles and sorted resources according to a range of criteria such as animals and shapes. They also went fishing for numbers, matching them to the template and finding numerals of personal significance such as age.

The children have enjoyed mark making with their teachers and friends. We are so proud of our children's mark making abilities and their confidence is growing every day! They particularly enjoyed doing Scribble Club and self-portraits.

Imagination! - Spring Term 1 23rd Feb 2026

The pre-school children have amazing imaginations! They made rockets, boats etc. using the wooden blocks. The children pretended to be vets, hairdressers, palaeontologists, police, fire officers, military personnel, superheroes and farmers.

Fun in the hall - Spring term 1 23rd Feb 2026

Lots of fun was had in the school hall. The children did 'Squiggle Whilst you Wiggle' where they moved their flipper flappers (pieces of material) in a range of ways to music, following instructions. They also played games such as traffic lights, musical statues and many more games. The children danced to Chinese Music pretending to be a Chinese Dragon.

The children enjoyed cooking this term. They made pizza, cheese twists and Gingerbread Men! They enjoyed trying a range of different foods at snack time including fruit, vegetables and pancakes!

Active Learning - Spring Term 1 23rd Feb 2026

We enjoyed lots of active learning during Spring Term 1. The children have explored the climbing equipment in the school grounds, played in the sensory garden and used the bikes, scooters and ride along equipment in the pre-school playground. They took part in action songs, acted out stories from our 'Story Steps' programme and recited the words, along with actions to our various poems from 'The Poetry Basket' programme.

Christmas 2025 23rd Dec 2025

The staff and children have had so much fun during the last few weeks of the Autumn Term. They decorated the pre-school and put the Christmas tree up. They made Christmas playdough, an Advent wreath for our prayer table and made lots of lovely Christmas crafts. The children learned new songs and rhymes and a poem about a snowman. We held a Christmas party and played party games such as musical bumps and musical chairs. We held 'Stay and Play' sessions. The children, staff and parents enjoyed these sessions, and we are looking forward to doing more of these in the Spring Term.

The children have been gaining control of their bodies by taking part in activities such as action songs, assault courses, running, climbing and using resources to develop hand-eye co-ordination such as threading, drawing and ball games. The children had lots of fun in the school grounds, pre-school playground and school hall!

ICT - Understanding the World 23rd Dec 2025

The children have been using a range of technology in pre-school. They have used the microphone to record themselves singing, used the walkie talkies to talk to each other, played games on the interactive board, danced to music whilst popping bubbles from the bubble machine and used tills, telephones etc. Their favourite resource this term has been the blackout tent and the torches, projector, colour changing cube and other such resources.

Fireworks! 23rd Dec 2025

The children had lots of fun taking part in activities leading up to Bonfire Night. They made their own firework pictures using paint, crayons, chalks etc. They listened to stories about bonfires and took part in discussions around fire safety. Some of the children went to the school fireworks night and enjoyed sharing their experiences with their friends.

The pre-school children have explored lots of different media this term including paint, collage materials, recycled materials, playdough and shaving foam. They have created autumn work, transport pictures, work related to our book focus and rangoli patterns.

The children have been using their imaginations whilst using construction and small world resources. They used the wooden blocks to create a range of structures such as a boat, farm and aeroplane. The children have also enjoyed using the Lego to make their own buildings and have worked together to create a narrative alongside their creations!

The children enjoyed doing lots of mark making this term. They took part in 'Scribble Club' creating lots of lovely marks on the paper with pens, pencils, crayons and chalks. The children talked about their marks and used their imaginations to share what was happening on the paper. They created pictures of our world and made Diwali pictures. The children printed with a range of resources and made maps to look for treasure!
